Settled in the 1790's, Dunbar was incorporated in 1883.  Originally called Frogtown, the name was changed to Dunbar City and finally Dunbar.

The town was named for Colonel Thomas Dunbar, who was in charge of the 48th Regiment of Foor during the undeclared French and Indian War.  Along with General Edward Braddock, Dunbar came to America in 1755 to help regain Fort Duquesne.  His camp was located at present day Jumonville.

 WE RECYCLE.....We have recycling bins located by the Borough Shed on Woodvale Street.  We recycle paper, plastic, glass and aluminum.  Remember, a portion of the money generated from recycling comes back to the BOROUGH!

Dunbar Borough Community YARD SALE - "Phase 2"                
Due to the HUGE success of the June yard sale and numerous requests for a Fall version, the Boro Council has scheduled another Community Yard Sale for SATURDAY-September 11, 2010.  Once again the hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a registration fee of $5.00 per address to be listed on the event map. Forms are now available - stop by the Boro Office or Amy Gross(724) 564 - 7217 (day) or 724-277-8296 (evening).
